A HOUSE RESOLUTION

COMMENDING FLORENCE COUNTY'S CAROLINA ACADEMY GOLFERS ON THEIR SECOND STRAIGHT SCISA 2A CHAMPIONSHIP AND GOLF COACH DR. MARION S. FOWLER III FOR HIS PROWESS IN PREPARING HIS TEAM FOR ANOTHER STATE TITLE.

Whereas, the game of golf, probably more than any other sport, rewards the traits of steadiness and consistency; and

Whereas, Florence County's Carolina Academy golf team has demonstrated both those virtues, as well as talent and skill, in capturing its second straight SCISA 2A State Championship; and

Whereas, the Carolina team's low score out of the 2A field of eleven was 645 for two rounds; and

Whereas, that sterling finish was assisted by medalist Tripp McAllister's 67, including an eagle on 18, in the second round, for a low total of 140 and Class 2A Outstanding Golfer honors; and

Whereas, head Coach Dr. Marion S. Fowler III also received championship efforts from Bryce Prosser, Preston Carter, Griffin Phillips, and Brett Fowler at the new venue for the state championships, the County Club of Orangeburg; and

Whereas, while many of the golfers found the new course too challenging, Coach Fowler's team called upon the vital fundamentals he touted and the dedicated practice he required to exhibit its championship form for a second consecutive year. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House commend Florence County's Carolina Academy golfers on their second straight SCISA 2A championship and golf coach Dr. Marion S. Fowler III for his prowess in preparing his team for another state title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Marion S. Fowler III, head coach of the Carolina Academy golf team.
