A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE ROSEMARY MOORE OF SPARTANBURG UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS DIRECTOR OF OAKBROOK PREPARATORY SCHOOL AFTER THIRTEEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AND TO WISH HER MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL OF HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize those individuals who have used their talents to benefit the citizens of the Palmetto State and have dedicated their time and energy to helping others; and

Whereas, Mrs. Rosemary Moore is known for her dedication to Oakbrook Preparatory School and commitment to the purpose of the school in which she founded in 1992 with just eighteen children and three teachers; and

Whereas, Mrs. Moore's dream was to create a school based on teaching children ideas that matter in an atmosphere that stimulated and challenged them as well as taught them to be life-long learners; and

Whereas, in the early years, the school was first known as The Village School with a curriculum influenced by the work of renowned English educator Charlotte Mason, who had established village schools in England. Mrs. Moore realized her purpose while reading about these schools in England; to create a village school for the children of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and

Whereas, today Oakbrook Preparatory School has a student body of over four hundred students in grades K-3 through twelve, dozens of faculty and staff, and a thirty-two acre campus; and

Whereas, over the past thirteen years, Mrs. Moore has tirelessly devoted her time and talents to make Oakbrook Preparatory School a success, serving the school in many capacities; acting as teacher, head mistress, school nurse, janitor, and director; and

Whereas, Mrs. Moore has inspired many people, young and old, with her caring nature, strong morals, and dedication to an environment of learning; and

Whereas, her grace, quiet calm, resolve, and kindness have won her uncounted friends and admirers, and endeared her to past and future generations of children whose lives have been and will be touched by her extraordinary vision; and

Whereas, on the occasion of her retirement, the General Assembly is pleased to recognize and honor the distinguished career of service of Rosemary Moore, exemplified by her commitment to Oakbrook Preparatory School and her work with the children and families of Spartanburg County. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Rosemary Moore of Spartanburg upon the occasion of her retirement as Director of Oakbrook Preparatory School after thirteen years of dedicated service and wish her much success and happiness in all of her future endeavors.
