TO AMEND SECTION 56-1-50, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF A BEGINNER'S PERMIT BY THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES, SO AS TO REVISE THE PERIOD OF TIME A PERSON WHO HAS NEVER HELD A FORM OF DRIVER'S LICENSE MUST HOLD A BEGINNER'S PERMIT BEFORE BEING ELIGIBLE FOR FULL LICENSURE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 56-1-50(F) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 181 of 2002, is further amended to read:
"(F) A person who has never held a form of license evidencing previous driving experience first must be issued a beginner's permit and must hold the permit for at least one hundred eighty days if he is not more than twenty-one years of age, or not more than thirty days if he is more than twenty-one years of age before being eligible for full licensure."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
