A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE ELIANA YVETTE PINCKNEY OF JASPER COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER FIRST BIRTHDAY AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HER FOR CONTINUED GROWTH, HEALTH, AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were delighted to learn that Eliana Yvette Pinckney will celebrate her first birthday on June 1, 2005; and

Whereas, Eliana was born on June 1, 2004 at 1:48 p.m. to her proud parents, Senator and Mrs. Clementa Pinckney, weighing nine pounds, ten ounces and measuring twenty-one inches; and

Whereas, Eliana has brought constant joy to the lives of her extended family, as her grandparents Frank and Cleo Benjamin, John Pinckney, and Theopia Aiken love to dote on her and watch her grow; and

Whereas, already "Daddy's Little Girl," Eliana's first word was "da-da," though her family is jokingly relieved that she bears greater resemblance to her beautiful mother, Jennifer; and

Whereas, in her first year, Eliana developed a discriminating palate, preferring peach cobbler and apple sauce as her favorite foods, and also developed a flair for the arts in enjoying the musical styling of the song "John Brown Had Ten Little Indians" as her favorite song, and the characters Elmo and The Count on the children's program "Sesame Street;" and

Whereas, with a honey brown complexion, "pinchable" cheeks, and large, almond-shaped eyes, Eliana is a beautiful baby whom people cannot help but be drawn to and admire; and

Whereas, Eliana's family will celebrate this joyous year of love and memories at the South Carolina State House on June 1, 2005, and will later have a party at Chucky Cheese; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Senate expects to hear of great accomplishments throughout Eliana's lifetime and shares in the delight her parents gain in watching her grow, day by day, into the woman she is meant to become. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, honor and recognize Eliana Yvette Pinckney of Jasper County on the occasion of her first birthday and extend best wishes to her for continued growth, health, and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Eliana's parents, Senator Clementa and Mrs. Jennifer Pinckney.
