The Senate assembled at 11:00 A.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the ACTING PRESIDENT, Senator SHEHEEN.

THIRD READING BILL

The following Joint Resolution was read the third time and ordered sent to the House of Representatives:

S. 1408 (Word version) -- Senator Drummond: A JOINT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR THE CREATION OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE AND LOCAL TAX STUDY COMMITTEE TO REVIEW STATE AND LOCAL TAXES, TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A RESTRUCTURING OF TAX METHODS USED IN THIS STATE.

By prior motion of Senator LEATHERMAN, with unanimous consent

MOTION ADOPTED

On motion of Senator CLEARY, with unanimous consent, the Senate stood adjourned out of respect to the memory of Ms. Gloria Marie Ganem, 78, of Willbrook Plantation in Georgetown County, S.C.

ADJOURNMENT

At 11:09 A.M., on motion of Senator JACKSON, the Senate adjourned to meet next Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at 12:00 Noon.
