A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 7-3-70 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE STATE ELECTION COMMISSION TO COLLECT AND PUBLISH INFORMATION, BY COUNTY, ON THE NUMBER OF ELECTORS WHO VOTE A STRAIGHT PARTY TICKET.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Chapter 3, Title 7 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 7-3-70.    (A)    Beginning in the general election of 2008, the State Election Commission shall collect and publish, by county, information concerning the number of electors voting a straight party ticket.

(B)    The State Election Commission may determine by what means this information must be disseminated."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
