AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 254 OF 1981, RELATING TO THE MARION COURT LIBRARY COMMISSION AND THE MARION COURT LIBRARY, TO PROVIDE THAT FUNDS REMAINING IN THE MARION COURT LIBRARY FUND AFTER PURCHASING BOOKS, LEGAL PERIODICALS, AND OTHER NECESSARY LIBRARY SUPPLIES MAY BE USED FOR THE COURT SYSTEM IN MARION COUNTY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Marion Court Library Fund

SECTION    1.    SECTION 5 of Act 254 of 1981 is amended to read:

"SECTION    5.    The commission shall form rules and regulations permitting the use of the library by the members of the Marion County Bar Association who are in good standing. One of such regulations shall require the payment of an annual charge to be determined by the commission; and no member of the bar shall be permitted to use the library until this has been paid. The commission may fix and assess fines for violation of the rules and regulations promulgated for the operation of the library and may deny the use thereof to any member of the bar failing to comply therewith. All funds derived under this section shall be deposited to and disbursed from the Marion Court Library Fund. These particular funds shall be used by the commission for the purchase of books, legal periodicals, and other necessary library supplies and equipment; any balance remaining after such expenditures may be used for operating expenses of the court system in Marion County."

Time effective

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
