VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
RECOGNIZING THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF REVEREND HENRY K. PHILLIPS AND THANKING HIM FOR HIS THIRTY-SIX YEARS OF DEVOTED SERVICE TO MINISTRY.
Whereas, Reverend Henry K. Phillips, pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Marion, is the youngest son of twelve children born to the late Harry and Beatrice Phillips of Florence; and
Whereas, Reverend Phillips is married to the former Delores Benjamin of Effingham, and they have three sons, Boris, Derrick, and Henry, Jr.; and
Whereas, Reverend Phillips is a graduate of Wilson High School in Florence, and attended Morris College School of Religion in Sumter; and
Whereas, Reverend Phillips serves as Treasurer of Pee Dee Baptist Association, serves on the Finance Committee of the Baptist Association, serves on the Executive Board of Florence and Affiliated Counties Union, serves as Financial Secretary of the North Eastern Regional Fellowship, serves as Executive Board Member of the Community Action for the Homeless, and serves as a member of the State Educational and Missionary Baptist Convention, the NAACP, and the Mullins area Ministerial Alliance; and
Whereas, during his pastoral career at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Reverend Phillips' achievements include the Bernice Dobbins Missionary Circle, the Junior Missionary Board, ordaining deacons, renovating the sanctuary, purchasing land, and building a new church in 2002. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, do recognize the many accomplishments of Reverend Henry K. Phillips and thank him for his thirty-six years of devoted service to ministry.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Reverend Henry K. Phillips.
