VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
CONGRATULATING THE CALHOUN ACADEMY CAVALIERS FOR WINNING THE 2008 SCISA CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, HONORING THE PLAYERS AND HEAD COACH ADAM JARECKI, COMMENDING THEM ON A SUCCESSFUL SEASON, AND WISHING THEM MUCH LUCK IN THE FUTURE.
Whereas, the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers claimed the 2008 SCISA Class AA State Baseball Championship title in the final playoff sweep with a 9-6 triumph over Williamsburg Academy; and
Whereas, the Calhoun Academy Cavalier baseball team began its road to the state title by sweeping both Holly Hill Academy and Carolina Academy of Lake City, earning the Cavaliers the SCISA Class AA lower state title, and advancing them to the title series against a tough upper state champion, Williamsburg Academy; and
Whereas, after defeating the Williamsburg Academy Stallions in game one of the best of three series, a host of Calhoun Academy students and fans made the trip to Kingstree to support the Cavaliers and to help the team bring home the state title; and
Whereas, the latest victory capped a stellar season in which the Cavalier baseball team completed an impressive campaign, finishing the regular season with a 19-6 record, and going undefeated in Region VI play; and
Whereas, the championship season by the Cavalier baseball team resulted from skill, hard work, and the perseverance of a team dedicated to achieving success on the baseball diamond. The talented players on this state championship team are: Trez Wienges, Shandon Kemmerlin, Andrews Robinson, Jordan Rucker, Jeff Grubbs, Mack Irick, Taylor Culler, Korey Davis, Corbin Kline, Bryan Love, David Yenny, Jimmy Reed, Brad Shirer, Dean Weeks, Ashton Shuler, William Granger, and Matt Arant; and
Whereas, under the administration of Headmistress Millie McLaughlin, the dedicated coaches of this team are Head Coach Adam Jarecki and Assistant Coach Chuck Cuttino; and
Whereas, the 2008 Calhoun Academy Cavalier baseball team has brought great pride and recognition to the school and to the community. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly congratulate the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers for winning the 2008 SCISA Class AA State Championship title, honor the players and their head coach Adam Jarecki, commend them on a successful season, and wish them much luck in the future.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Adam Jarecki and the Calhoun Academy Cavaliers.
