VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO ENACT THE "STATE GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY AND REFORM ACT OF 2007" INCLUDING PROVISIONS TO AMEND CHAPTER 30, TITLE 1, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO DEPARTMENTS OF STATE GOVERNMENT, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE POWER TO ORGANIZE AND REORGANIZE A DEPARTMENT INTO DIVISIONS LIES WITH THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN FURTHERANCE OF ITS MANDATE PURSUANT TO ARTICLE XII OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA CONSTITUTION, TO CREATE THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND REVISE OTHER EXISTING DEPARTMENTS, AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE ORGANIZATION, GOVERNANCE, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND PROCEDURES OF VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS AND DIVISIONS, AND FOR THE MANNER OF SELECTION AND REMOVAL OF GOVERNING AUTHORITIES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. This act may be cited as the "South Carolina State Government Accountability and Reform Act of 2007".
SECTION 1. Chapter 30, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
SECTION 1. Except as otherwise provided, this act takes effect January 1, 2008.
