A SENATE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING BISHOP MICHAEL A. BLUE ON THE FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF HIS THE DOOR OF HOPE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, THANKING HIM FOR HIS DEDICATION TO THE PEOPLE OF MARION COUNTY, AND WISHING HIM MUCH SUCCESS IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Michael A. Blue was raised in Sellers, South Carolina, attending schools in Marion District 1, and earning his Bachelors of Arts degree in English from Francis Marion University; and

Whereas, for twenty years he dedicated himself to the students of Marion High School where he worked as an English teacher; and

Whereas, Bishop Blue's tireless efforts did not go unnoticed. After forming the Black History Month choir, that was ultimately developed into a district-wide elective course, Bishop Blue was named Marion High School Teacher of the Year 2002-2003, and Marion District One Teacher of the Year 2003-2004; and

Whereas, his motivation and desire to see all students succeed, has aided many students in seeking higher education, a better quality of life, and renewed faith.

Whereas, Bishop Blue founded the Chosen Generation Community Youth Choir, creating an outlet for youth to participate in a spiritual artistic expression; and

Whereas, Bishop Blue has always served the church in various capacities, he first joined the Born Again Church of Jesus Christ in 1977, performing as a musician, Sunday school teacher, and youth president. Bishop Blue gave his first official sermon in July 1980 and was later ordained as an Elder in August of 1987; and

Whereas, in 1991, he received a higher calling and through much work and perseverance, transformed his weekly Bible study into The Door of Hope Christian Church; and

Whereas, he and his wife became the founding pastors in 1992, and have continuously served the community in music and educational supplementation, becoming a beacon of faith for members and non-members alike; and

Whereas, Bishop Blue was consecrated to the Bishopric in December 1997, and served as an assistant diocesan and diocesan of the Northeast Diocese of the Born Again Church. Bishop Blue currently serves as the Presiding Prelate of the Christian Covenant Fellowship of Ministries; and

Whereas, Bishop Blue has been a speaker at many national and local conferences, spreading his message across the Midwest and the entire Eastern seaboard, and served as a panelist on several national television and radio shows; and

Whereas, along with educating the youth of South Carolina and sharing his faith with all of those with whom he comes into contact, Bishop Blue is an accomplished musician. He has been a soloist and co-producer of several musical projects and has released his own CD. Now, therefore,

The Senate of South Carolina would like to congratulate Bishop Michael Blue on the fifteenth anniversary of his founding The Door of Hope Christian Church, thank him for all of his time and dedication he has given to Marion County, and wish him well in all of his future endeavors.
