VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING ARTICLE 23 TO CHAPTER 1, TITLE 1 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A STATE OR LOCAL ENTITY FROM PRINTING AND PRODUCING WRITTEN MATERIAL IN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE UNLESS REQUIRED BY FEDERAL LAW, AND TO REQUIRE A STATE AND LOCAL ENTITY TO PRINT AND PRODUCE WRITTEN MATERIAL IN ENGLISH ONLY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
Section 1-1-1510. A state or local entity shall not print or produce for dissemination to the public a document, letter, pamphlet or other written material in a foreign language unless required by federal law. A state and local entity shall print and produce written material for dissemination to the public in the English language only."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
