VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE LAURENS ACADEMY FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2006 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION EIGHT MAN STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH, TODD KIRK, ON AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON.
Whereas, true prowess in football demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team cohesiveness and good sportsmanship; and
Whereas, using those talents and attributes, Coach Todd Kirk and the members of the Laurens Academy Football Team capped an outstanding 12 and 1 season by winning the 2006 South Carolina Independent Schools Association (SCISA) Eight Man State Championship; and
Whereas, defeating fierce competitors throughout the season, the team averaged a remarkable 48 points in regular season games; and
Whereas, throughout the season the team showed great confidence, inspired by Coach Todd Kirk, whose time and energy spent encouraging his team to perform to their individual and collective abilities led to great successes; and
Whereas, the players and their coach were recognized for their many achievements: Coach Todd Kirk was named SCISA Coach of the Year, Matt Gault was named SCISA Eight Man Player of the Year, three members were named to the SCISA All-State Team, and four members were named to the North/South All-Star Team; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great pride in commending the athletes of the Laurens Academy Football Team for their ongoing commitment and great determination in this outstanding season and recognize them for this wonderful accomplishment. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Laurens Academy Football Team for its impressive win of the 2006 South Carolina Independent Schools Association Eight Man State Championship, and honor the players and their coach, Todd Kirk, on an exceptional season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the athletes, coaches, and school officials of the Laurens Academy Football Team.
