A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE GREENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2006 DIVISION II CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.

Whereas, the Eagles of Greenwood High School defeated Conway 14-7 on Friday, December 1, 2006, at Columbia's Williams-Brice Stadium, to capture the 2006 Division II Class AAAA State Championship title; and

Whereas, Coach R. Shell Dula and his assistant coaches, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their football program into a championship team; and

Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent season for the Eagles, with thirteen wins and two losses; and

Whereas, no strangers to the taste of victory, these players and the coaches of Greenwood High School deserve tribute for their fine season and championship win; and

Whereas, the Eagles have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Greenwood High School varsity football team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2006 Division II Class AAAA State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach R. Shell Dula and the Greenwood High School varsity football team.
