TO HONOR AND COMMEND SAM WRIGHT OF LEXINGTON COUNTY FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AS HEAD BAILIFF FOR THE MUNICIPAL COURT OF THE TOWN OF SOUTH CONGAREE FOR TEN YEARS AND FOR HIS SERVICE AS A STATE CONSTABLE FOR TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS UPON HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina have learned with regret that Sam Wright of Lexington County is retiring as Head Bailiff for the Municipal Court of the Town of South Congaree after serving ten years as Head Bailiff and after serving twenty-eight years as a state constable; and

Whereas, public service in South Carolina is an honorable calling and this truly outstanding man has always discharged the duties of his office with skill and dispatch; and

Whereas, "Mr. Sam" as he is affectionately known is widely respected by the citizens of South Congaree and Lexington County for his integrity, honesty, and fairness to all whatever the situation and his retirement will leave a void at the municipal court not easily filled; and

Whereas, to commend him for his outstanding tenure with the court, the Town Council of South Congaree will honor him at its meeting on Monday, January 29, 2007; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank Sam Wright for his service to his town, county, and State upon the occasion of his retirement and extend to him every best wish for a happy and enjoyable retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate honor and commend Sam Wright of Lexington County for his distinguished service as Head Bailiff for the municipal court of the Town of South Congaree for ten years and for his service as a state constable for twenty-eight years upon his retirement.
