VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE TOWN OF LAKE VIEW ON THE OCCASION OF ITS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION.
Whereas, the Town of Lake View began its history as Page's Mill, which was incorporated on February 26, 1907; and
Whereas, by election Page's Mill changed its name to the Town of Lake View on May 13, 1916; and
Whereas, the citizens of the Town of Lake View have proclaimed the period from February 25 through March 4, 2007, as a time of honor, reflection, and celebration on the occasion of the one hundredth anniversary of the founding of their town; and
Whereas, the celebration will include opening ceremonies and a reception on February 25; Senior Citizen Day, with luncheon, entertainment, and games, on February 28; the Centennial Festival, featuring vendors, crafts, food, rides, an heirloom display, antique appraisals, high school reunions, and a parade and car show, topped off by fireworks and a dance in the evening, on March 3; and a community church service on March 4; and
Whereas, the forefathers of the Town of Lake View are worthy of honor for their foresighted courage in forging ahead with positive change and development and for establishing religious and educational institutions where the citizens of their town can learn, grow, and worship together, as it is even until this day; and
Whereas, the Town of Lake View's present citizens firmly pledge support to their leaders toward the future growth and enrichment of their beloved town; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are greatly pleased to have this opportunity to congratulate and salute the town of Lake View and its citizens on such a providential occasion. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their congratulations to the Town of Lake View on the occasion of its centennial celebration.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the mayor of the Town of Lake View, Boston Page, Jr.
