Whereas, the members of the General Assembly have learned that Mr. Bud Tibshrany, Vice President of Public Affairs for Time Warner Cable's South Carolina Division, will be retiring this year from the cable television industry after forty-two years of service; and

Whereas, a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a Navy veteran, Mr. Tibshrany began his career in 1964 with the former Cosmos Cablevision, based in Columbia; and

Whereas, he became the original Vice President and General Manager of the former Columbia Cable TV and served in that capacity for thirteen years, being responsible for growing and developing the Columbia system; and

Whereas, realizing his passion for public affairs and government relations, Mr. Tibshrany then accepted the position of Regional Director of Governmental Relations for Cablevision Industries, where he was responsible for franchise acquisition and renewal activity across the company's southeast region; and

Whereas, after eight years with Cablevision, he became Vice President of Public Affairs for Time Warner Cable's South Carolina Division, where his eleven-year tenure has included his heading franchising, governmental relations on the local, state, and federal levels, and community relations throughout South Carolina; and

Whereas, his peers have recognized his significant contributions to the field of public affairs and government relations in the cable industry by naming him the first person in South Carolina to be inducted into the Cable TV Pioneers national organization; and

Whereas, further such recognition has come to Mr. Tibshrany as President and board member of the Southern Cable Telecommunications Association, a regional trade organization; as a two-term President and board member of the South Carolina Cable Television Association; and as a board member of the South Carolina Cable Television Foundation; and

Whereas, not one to forget his civic duty, Mr. Tibshrany has devoted much of his time to serving the community as a member of many boards and organizations, including the boards of the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America, University of South Carolina College of Mass Communications and Library Studies Partnership, Columbia Kiwanis Club, Crimestoppers, Riverbanks Zoological Society, Columbia City Ballet, and Columbia Chamber of Commerce; and

Whereas, having made his mark and set the bar of achievement high for his industry, Mr. Tibshrany will be remembered with admiration and affection by both staff and community for years to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Mr. Bud Tibshrany for forty-two years of dedicated service in the field of cable television upon his retirement, and wish him much health and happiness in his future endeavors.
