VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-11-360 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT IT IS UNLAWFUL TO TAKE OR ATTEMPT TO TAKE ELK EXCEPT AS PERMITTED BY REGULATION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 11, Title 50 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 50-11-360. It is unlawful to take or attempt to take elk (Cervus elaphus) except as permitted by regulation of the department. A person convicted of violating the provisions of this section or any regulations promulgated by the department under this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than five hundred dollars or imprisoned for not more than thirty days, or both."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
