A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR PASTOR WILLIAM "CALVIN" DANIELS FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A CIVIC LEADER AND MINISTER OF GOD.

Whereas, it is with great pleasure and gratitude that the House of Representatives recognizes individuals who are dedicated to succoring the souls of men; and

Whereas, Pastor William "Calvin" Daniels, a dedicated man of God who believes serving the Lord should take a man beyond the walls of the church, has spent a lifetime helping the saints "build up [themselves] on [their] most holy faith", as well as contributing untold hours of service as a civic leader among the people of South Carolina, thereby showing himself worthy of praise; and

Whereas, born in Pamplico to Mrs. Minnie R. Daniels and the late Mr. Roy Daniels, Sr., this South Carolina native obtained his early education at Gibbs High and Elementary Schools and, in further preparation for service, studied at Florence-Darlington Technical College and Morris College in Sumter; and

Whereas, during the twenty-two years of his leadership as pastor of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Calvin Daniels has seen phenomenal growth in his church, including establishment of the nonprofit New Vision Community Development Corporation and the acquisition of Magnolia Child Care Center and the New Hopewell Outreach Center; and

Whereas, not one to forget his civic duty, Pastor Daniels currently serves as Moderator of the Darlington County Education and Missionary Union, President/CEO of New Vision Community Development Corporation, Vice President and co-founder of the Pee Dee Family and Community Development Program, Secretary of United Brethren in Action, and Foreign Missions Commissioner and Executive Board member of the Pee Dee Baptist E & M Association, and he has recently been appointed to the Political Action Committee of the South Carolina Baptist E & M Convention; and

Whereas, because his passionate concern for humanity extends from local to international communities, this man of God has traveled extensively on the continent of Africa into the countries of Kenya, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, and Swaziland, resulting in his being instrumental in the creation of United Brethren in Action, an organization that supports various ministries in Africa; and

Whereas, Pastor Daniels considers one of his crowning achievements as having had the good sense to marry the former Patricia Ann Bostick, his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, and to raise with her three fine children, Andrea, Gregory, and Eric, who have blessed their parents with five delightful grandchildren, William, Safiya, André, Anthony, and Jesse. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Pastor William "Calvin" Daniels for his many years of outstanding service as a civic leader and minister of God.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor William "Calvin" Daniels.
