VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE REVEREND LEON ERROL SWANSON UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives note that, after twenty-five years of service, Reverend Leon Swanson is retiring from the position of Supervisor for Metrorail Revenue Services with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority; and
Whereas, known as a man of integrity, compassion, courage, and commitment, Reverend Swanson proved his mettle long before he began working for the transit authority when in 1967 he came to the aid of former Bishopville Fire Chief Ronnie Williams while both men were serving in Vietnam. Leon Swanson, making his way as a medic through heavy hostile fire and enduring injury himself while working on his fallen comrade, saved the wounded Williams' life; and
Whereas, in recognition of his well-earned April 2007 retirement, Reverend Swanson's colleagues will honor him on Saturday, April 14, 2007, with a celebratory dinner, which his long-time friend Ronnie Williams, of Bishopville, will have the privilege of attending as invited speaker; and
Whereas, to add to the joy of this season in his life, Leon Swanson celebrates his sixty-second birthday on Friday, April 13, 2007, and along with his family and friends, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in extending birthday greetings and wishing him many happy returns; and
Whereas, this Southern Pines, North Carolina, native hopes to enjoy the years ahead with his wife, Mrs. Alicia Swanson, and his four children, Gina Hayes, Jacelyn Swanson, Nicole Mills, and Leon "Lee" Swanson, Jr. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Reverend Leon Errol Swanson upon the occasion of his retirement and wish him much success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend Leon Swanson.
