A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR MRS. FRANCENIA D. MOORE, OF RICHLAND COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF MOTHER'S DAY, AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS CELEBRATION AND MANY MORE YEARS OF HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly note with pleasure that Mother's Day will be celebrated on Sunday, May 13, 2007; and

Whereas, it is fitting that all the citizens of South Carolina should pause to remember their mothers and express gratitude for the care and love these dear ones continually give their children, and, on the occasion of Mother's Day 2007, the General Assembly wishes to honor Mrs. Francenia D. Moore as one of this great State's outstanding mothers, one worthy of praise and emulation by all women who would be a blessing to their children; and

Whereas, one of a fine family of three girls, Francenia D. Moore, second daughter of the late Johnny and Celestine Griffin, was born on August 3, 1928, in Piney Grove; and

Whereas, after completing her early education at Piney Grove Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School, she earned her degree from Allen University, where she majored in home economics and minored in primary education; and

Whereas, the young Francenia then embarked on a teaching career that led her to Greenville and Columbia, where she taught until retirement. In 1952, she married Albert Moore of Scotland Neck, North Carolina, and the Lord blessed their union with three children, Beverly R., Antonette G., and Albert B., Jr., as well as five grandsons, Albert B. III, Christopher D., Ronald G., Larry J., and Micah A; and

Whereas, reared an African Methodist Episcopalian at Piney Grove AME, she joined New Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1968 with her family and has since been a faithful member of the Sunday School, the Ruth Circle Missionary group, and now the Seniors group; and

Whereas, Mrs. Moore, always a loving wife and mother, has not only brought up her own children in the fear and nurture of the Lord but also has extended her caring to other little ones she has helped rear; and

Whereas, those who know and love her testify that Francenia D. Moore is a mother deserving of the commendation found in Proverbs 31:28 (KJV): "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her." Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, honor Mrs. Francenia D. Moore, of Richland County, on the occasion of Mother's Day, and wish her a joyous celebration and many more years of health and happiness.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Francenia D. Moore.
