A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL TEAM FOR CAPTURING THE STATE TITLE AT THE 2007 STATE HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION AND TO OFFER BEST WISHES TO THEM IN ALL OF THEIR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the Fort Mill High School Mock Trial Team emerged victorious as they outscored fifteen other high schools at the State Mock Trial Competition held at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia on March 9 and 10, 2007, capturing the state title and advancing to represent the Palmetto State in the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Dallas, Texas; and

Whereas, the Yellow Jackets edged out Bob Jones High School by impressing a panel of volunteer attorneys with commanding performances and persuasive arguments; and

Whereas, the state competition is sponsored by the South Carolina Bar Association's Law Related Education Division, which was developed to improve law related education in the state's schools; and

Whereas, Fort Mill High School's championship team consisted of Michelle Cote, Susana Chinchilla, Mark DeMayo, Ryan Douggan, Justin Duke, Maddison Hall, Sam Hanna, Kaylee Klixbull, Rory Masterson, Rolfe Neigenfind, Jenn Resech, Mattson Smith, Blake Storey, Rebecca Szer, and Jimmy Vasiliou; and

Whereas, the Yellow Jackets attained success under the skilled and able tutelage of head coach Lynn Dickinson and assistant coaches Clay Hasty and Beth Spratt, all teachers at Fort Mill High School, and attorneys Stephen M. Cox, Walter G. Dusky, and Harold C. Staley, Jr.; and

Whereas, it is proper and fitting that the members of the House of Representatives pause in their deliberations to recognize this outstanding mock trial team and its coaches for winning the state title at the State Mock Trial Competition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the Fort Mill High School Mock Trial Team for capturing the state title at the 2007 State Mock Trial Competition and offer best wishes to them in all of their future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the team's members, coaches, and Fort Mill High School Principal Dee Christopher.
