AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 340 OF 1967, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE CHARLESTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE DISTRICT, SO AS TO REVISE THE MANNER IN WHICH PRINCIPALS OF SCHOOLS IN THE DISTRICT SHALL BE APPOINTED AND THE MANNER IN WHICH TEACHERS AND OTHER PERSONNEL SHALL BE EMPLOYED AND ASSIGNED, AND TO DELETE CERTAIN PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE EMPLOYMENT AND TRANSFER OF TEACHERS AND OTHER EMPLOYEES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Appointment of principals
SECTION 1. Item (16) of Section 5 of Act 340 of 1967, as added by Act 721 of 1978, is amended to read:
"(16) Appoint the principals of all schools in Charleston County;"
Employment of teachers and other personnel
SECTION 2. Section 5 of Act 340 of 1967, as last amended by Act 721 of 1978, is further amended by adding a new item (17) to read:
"(17) Employ and assign the teachers and other personnel necessary for the efficient operation of the schools."
Deletions
SECTION 3. Sections 6 and 8 of Act 340 of 1967 are deleted.
Time effective
SECTION 4. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
Ratified the 20th day of June, 2007.
Approved the 25th day of June, 2007.
