TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE NEWBERRY ACADEMY BOYS SOCCER TEAM FOR CAPTURING THE 2006 SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.

Whereas, the Newberry Academy boys soccer team captured the 2006 South Carolina Independent Schools Association Class A State Championship title with a convincing 4-1 win over Aiken Preparatory School on October 13, 2006, in Aiken; and

Whereas, the Newberry Academy Eagles soared in the Class A State Championship game of the South Carolina Independent Schools Association to a victory culminating a six-game winning streak; and

Whereas, the state championship achieved by the stellar boys soccer team of Newberry Academy resulted from the skill, hard work, and perseverance of talented players dedicated to achieving success; and

Whereas, the dedicated coach of this state championship team, providing motivation, was Coach Danny Kinard, under the administration of Athletic Director Scott Gardner and Headmaster Robert Dawkins; and

Whereas, the Newberry Academy boys soccer team has brought excitement, attention, and pride to Newberry Academy, the City and County of Newberry, and the State of South Carolina, and the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of talented young athletes and their coach. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Newberry Academy boys soccer team for capturing the 2006 South Carolina Independent Schools Association Class A State Championship title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Danny Kinard, Athletic Director Scott Gardner, and Headmaster Robert Dawkins.
