A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MRS. LINDA JONES SEAWRIGHT, MANAGER OF THE LIBRARY ANNEX OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA THOMAS COOPER LIBRARY, FOR HER OUTSTANDING SERVICE UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT, AND TO WISH HER MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly notes that, after more than thirty-three years of dedicated service, Mrs. Linda Jones Seawright is retiring on June 30, 2007, from the position of manager of the University of South Carolina Thomas Cooper Library's Library Annex; and

Whereas, Linda Jones Seawright began her career at the University of South Carolina in 1973 as a clerk-typist for the Thomas Cooper Library. Successive promotions moved her from library technical assistant positions to library specialist and, finally, in 1998, to her present position as manager of the University of South Carolina Thomas Cooper Library's Library Annex; and

Whereas, in recognition of her invaluable services to the library, as well as to other worthy endeavors, Mrs. Seawright has received several awards, including the Thomas Cooper Library Employee of the Year Award, City of Columbia Volunteer Award for Outstanding Service, and NCO of the Year Award as a member of the 218th HQ Brigade of the South Carolina National Guard; and

Whereas, not one to neglect her duty to the community, she volunteers with many organizations, among them Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia, the Special Olympics, the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus, Richland Memorial Children's Hospital, and her church; and

Whereas, she hopes to enjoy her well-earned retirement with her husband, Robert Seawright, her two sons, and her grandson. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, commend Mrs. Linda Jones Seawright, manager of the Library Annex of the University of South Carolina Thomas Cooper Library, for her outstanding service upon the occasion of her retirement, and wish her much success and happiness in all her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Linda Jones Seawright.
