AN ACT TO REVISE THE DATE FOR ELECTIONS FOR THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF CHEROKEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 1, THE FILING PERIOD, AND THE MANNER IN WHICH THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTIONS ARE DETERMINED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Election of trustees, results of election determined by runoff election method

SECTION    1.    (A)    Notwithstanding another provision of law, the Board of Trustees of Cherokee County School District 1 must be elected the second Tuesday in August of even-numbered years in the manner as provided by law with runoff elections, if required, two weeks later.

(B)    The results must be determined by the nonpartisan election and runoff election method prescribed in Section 5-15-62 of the 1976 Code.

Time effective

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

Ratified the 20th day of June, 2007.

Approved the 25th day of June, 2007.
