To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 4413) to recognize the efforts of the Greenville Textile Heritage Society to preserve the history of textiles and the role textiles played in the growth and development of Greenville County, etc., respectfully
That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:

TO RECOGNIZE THE EFFORTS OF THE GREENVILLE TEXTILE HERITAGE SOCIETY TO PRESERVE THE HISTORY OF TEXTILES AND THE ROLE TEXTILES PLAYED IN THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF GREENVILLE COUNTY AND TO JOIN IN ITS CELEBRATION OF THE FIRST FULL WEEK OF OCTOBER AS THE ANNUAL "TEXTILE HERITAGE WEEK".
Whereas, the Greenville Textile Heritage Society was established to tell the story of the mills and mill villages of Greenville County; and
Whereas, its membership is made up of those who worked in the mills or lived in the mill villages themselves, or whose parents or other relatives had that connection, who attended school or church or played sports there, or who are generally interested in that period of Greenville County's history or specifically talented in documenting and relating that history; and
Whereas, the society's mission is to bring together those people interested in the preservation of the history of textiles in Greenville County, to research, document, and preserve that history, to raise public awareness of the role textiles played in the growth and development of Greenville County, and to ensure the heritage of this era is recognized and taught to future generations; and
Whereas, a vital part of the society's efforts is its designation and celebration of the first full week in October as the annual "Textile Heritage Week"; and
Whereas, the State of South Carolina is proud of its long association with textiles and the vital role textiles played in our economy and our culture. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize the efforts of the Greenville Textile Heritage Society to preserve the history of textiles and the role textiles played in the growth and development of Greenville County and join in its celebration of the first full week in October as the annual "Textile Heritage Week".
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Greenville Textile Heritage Society.
