A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND REMEMBER THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF LANCE CORPORAL JAMES DARRYL HAYNES II, OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY PATROL, AND TO EXPRESS TO HIS WIDOW AND FAMILY THE APPRECIATION OF THE GRATEFUL CITIZENS OF THIS STATE FOR HIS LIFE, SACRIFICE, AND SERVICE.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives pause to acknowledge with deep appreciation the men and women of the South Carolina Highway Patrol who daily put their own safety at risk on behalf of our citizenry; and

Whereas, on February 1, 2008, at the age of thirty-eight, Trooper Haynes lost his life in a traffic collision while responding to a call on duty; and

Whereas, the son of Tressie Haynes and the late James A. Haynes and the brother of Lundie Haynes, James Darryl Haynes graduated from Keenan High School in 1987 and from Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina, in 1991; and

Whereas, in 1997, James Haynes successfully completed the Highway Patrol Training School and for the last eleven years served with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, most recently with Troop Seven; and

Whereas, a dedicated highway patrolman, Trooper Haynes often received commendations for his selfless service in the performance of his duties; and

Whereas, a devoted husband to his beloved wife Andromedia (Angie) Eckles Haynes and a loving father to their two children, nine-year-old James Austin and six-year-old Chandler Ashton, Trooper Haynes put his family first in his life and in his heart; and

Whereas, a strong man with a quiet spirit, a loyal friend, and a faithful member of Zion Canaan Baptist Church, James Haynes loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; and

Whereas, he desired to live a righteous life, and like the godly man in Psalm 1:3, to "...be like a tree planted by rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." It is such a man to whom the members of the House of Representatives pay tribute in the life of Trooper James Haynes. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor and remember the life and service of Lance Corporal James Darryl Haynes II, of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and to express to his widow and family the appreciation of a the grateful citizens of this State for his life, sacrifice, and service.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Andromedia Eckles Haynes.
