A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE NINE-YEAR-OLD LOGAN DEANE MORRIS, 2007 PRE-TEEN SOUTH CAROLINA (JUNIOR), OF INMAN, AND TO HONOR HER FOR SETTING AND REACHING NUMEROUS PERSONAL GOALS AND FOR MANY HOURS OF SIGNIFICANT SERVICE TO HER COMMUNITY AND CHURCH.

Whereas, fourth-grade student Logan Deane Morris was named 2007 Pre-Teen South Carolina (Junior) sponsored by the American Academy for Pre-Teen Achievers; and

Whereas, recognizing each participant's achievements, the Pre-Teen America Program has offered wholesome family activities since its inception in 1990. The program helps each young lady to learn to set goals and develop skills and also promotes self-improvement and confidence; and

Whereas, criteria for evaluation of participants who receive special recognition from the program include academic achievement, volunteer service to the community, school honors and activities, and development of personal skills; and

Whereas, in 2005 with her sister, Logan Morris founded Kids with Purpose, whose express mission is to make a difference in their world. They have collected over a ton of newspapers for local animal shelters, made mementos for soldiers, and collected over five thousand Christmas cards that missionaries use in crafts to reach children; and

Whereas, through Kids with Purpose, she has helped with monthly birthday and holiday parties, made crafts, and assisted with bingo games at Inman Healthcare Nursing Home; she coordinated with a local summer camp to paint monthly pictures that are mounted to the ceiling above patients' beds for them to see as they lie down; and

Whereas, she also has participated in special church presentations for community enjoyment and devoted numerous hours in volunteer work at her church to keep the facility attractive and in good repair; and

Whereas, with astounding discipline, Logan also has become an accomplished dancer, performing at Disney World, on Carnival Cruise Lines, and numerous local events; she has won competitions for speech, art and essay writing, as well; and

Whereas, Logan's spiritual discipline, marked with similar passion, has enabled her to memorize more than eight hundred verses of Scripture in the AWANA International Club; and

Whereas, Logan has not let her academic work flag, made evident by her inclusion on the Principal's Honor Roll for all A's during her entire academic career, and she is a member of the National Society of Gifted and Talented; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take great pleasure in acknowledging citizens who contribute to the quality of life enjoyed in many parts of the Palmetto State, and they are pleased to thank Logan Deane Morris not only for lightening the burdens of so many but also for the example she sets in the quality of her character. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate nine-year-old- Logan Deane Morris, 2007 Pre-Teen South Carolina (Junior), of Inman, and honor her for setting and reaching numerous personal goals and for many hours of significant service to her community and church.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to

Logan Deane Morris.
