A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO NOLAN T. RUSSELL III AND VERONICA J. ROLANDI, BOTH OF RICHLAND COUNTY, UPON THE OCCASION OF THEIR MARRIAGE ON MAY 10, 2008, AND TO WISH THEM MUCH HAPPINESS IN THE YEARS AHEAD.

Whereas, marriage is an ancient and honored institution essential to the creation and perpetuation of strong families, communities, and nations; and

Whereas, the General Assembly, therefore, is pleased to learn of the marriage of Nolan T. Russell III and Veronica J. Rolandi, both of Richland County, to take place on May 10, 2008, and the members wish to express their congratulations to the couple on this joyous occasion; and

Whereas, Nolan T. Russell, son of the late Nolan T. Russell, Jr., and Deborah M. Cauley, graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1996 and pursued further education at Spartanburg Methodist Junior College, where he received an associate in arts degree. Ty, as he is known, later earned a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in environmental health and safety management, both from West Virginia University and both paid for by a full scholarship in baseball. Now working at the University of South Carolina, he is the school's environmental health manager; and

Whereas, Veronica J. Rolandi, daughter of Walter and Linda Rolandi, graduated from Dreher High School in 2001 and earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of South Carolina in 2006. Presently working on a second bachelor's degree, this time in interior architecture and design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Veronica is nanny to the children of Anna and Daniel Bouknight, Emi and Natalie; and

Whereas, a May 9 rehearsal party hosted by Deborah Cauley at the home of Ty's grandparents, the farm where he grew up, will feature an old-fashioned barbeque with all the trimmings, prepared by longtime friend Mr. Bunky. The wedding and reception are to be held at The Millstone at Adams Pond with Veronica's sister, Amanda, as maid of honor and Ty's grandfather, George Martin, as best man; and

Whereas, the institution of marriage is a blessing to all levels of a nation's government, which rejoices at the support it lends to a stable, productive society. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their heartiest congratulations to Nolan T. Russell III and Veronica J. Rolandi, both of Richland County, upon the occasion of their marriage on May 10, 2008, and wish them much happiness in the years ahead.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ty Russell and Veronica Rolandi.
