A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE MICHAEL W. PRATT, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF ORCHARD PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, IN YORK COUNTY, FOR HIS DEDICATION AND HARD WORK AS AN EDUCATOR, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR BEING SELECTED THE 2008 ELEMENTARY LEVEL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina are pleased to learn that Michael W. Pratt has served as an educator for over eighteen years and was named the South Carolina Association of School Administrators Elementary Level Assistant Principal of the Year for 2008; and

Whereas, Michael Pratt prepared for a career in education by earning a bachelor of science from Bemidji State University in Minnesota and a master of arts in education from Winthrop University; and

Whereas, before becoming the assistant principal in Fort Mill at Orchard Park Elementary School in 2001, he served as assistant principal at Chester Middle School; and

Whereas, Michael Pratt builds school spirit among the students, and his own motivation as an educator is to enable students to succeed, which he accomplishes through his two distinctive roles as a trusted friend and authority figure; and

Whereas, with other colleagues, he introduced the Marathon Club at Orchard Park Elementary School to get students to strengthen their heart and lungs through a running program; and

Whereas, in the 2006-2007 school year, over seventy students, faculty, and parents participated in this program and ran more than five thousand eight hundred miles as a result of his efforts; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful to Michael W. Pratt for his devoted and exemplary service in educating the youth of South Carolina and wish him continued success in his career. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor and recognize Michael W. Pratt, assistant principal of Orchard Park Elementary School, in York County, for his dedication and hard work as an educator, and congratulate him for being selected the 2008 Elementary Level Assistant Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Michael W. Pratt.
