A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND SPARTANBURG CHRISTIAN ACADEMY'S BATTLE OF THE BRAINS TEAM ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2008 BATTLE OF THE BRAINS COMPETITION, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE TEAM AND ITS COACH ON CAPTURING THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE TITLE.

Whereas, Spartanburg Christian Academy's Battle of the Brains team powered its way to a second consecutive championship win at the annual Battle of the Brains Competition, held this year at the Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg; and

Whereas, attesting that the team members' most important goal is "to be a good witness for Jesus Christ wherever they go," Coach Ed Dickerson is proud of his team's 70-48 final score at the championship bout; and

Whereas, in a showcase of cerebral talent that proved them worthy of the title, the Warriors defeated Gable Middle School in the final round and carried off top honors over thirty-two other teams at the competition, an accomplishment that netted the Warriors a trophy, a cash prize of one thousand dollars, and seats of honor at a banquet to be held in April; and

Whereas, members of Spartanburg Christian Academy's Battle of the Brains team include Tucker Meyers, Adam Painter, and Alexis Zwilling, as well as alternates Ann Louise Granger, Jade Kelley, Kristin Kirchner, Danielle Scott, and Lee Steele; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in congratulating the young men and women of Spartanburg Christian Academy's Battle of the Brains team for their hard work and commitment to excellence, a combination that shapes winners and keeps them victorious. The members applaud the team for leading with distinction both in and out of the classroom and expect to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Spartanburg Christian Academy's Battle of the Brains team on its impressive win of the 2008 Battle of the Brains competition, and congratulate the team and its coach on capturing their second consecutive title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Principal Rob McDonald and Coach Ed Dickerson of

Spartanburg Christian Academy.
