A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF SERGEANT CARL WESLEY PRINGLE OF SUMTER COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Sergeant Carl Wesley Pringle on May 19, 2008; and

Whereas, a Sumter native, Sergeant Pringle was the son of the late Wesley Pringle and Percilla Alston Pringle; and

Whereas, reared in the nurture and admonition of the Lord by his devoted grandmother, Carl became a member of Good Hope Methodist Church and later joined the Rafting Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult Choir and Male Choir; and

Whereas, a 1989 graduate of Hillcrest High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from South Carolina State University and became employed with the South Carolina Department of Corrections, where he met his adoring wife, Dianna Canty Pringle; and

Whereas, Carl and Dianna shared a faithful and loving marriage, and they were blessed with two delightful daughters, Destini and Dimitri; and

Whereas, achieving his true professional calling, Carl became a member of the Sumter County Sheriff's Office in 1995. Recognized for his dedication and passion for his work, Carl was promoted from Patrol Officer to Senior Deputy, Corporal, Senior Corporal, and Sergeant; and

Whereas, serving as a School Resource Officer, Traffic Officer, COPS Officer, Law Enforcement Network Supervisor, and on the Alcohol Enforcement Team and the Community Action Team, Carl had an unmatched impact on his own community while serving as a Deputy; and

Whereas, in addition to his law enforcement responsibilities, Carl also served his country as a member of the United States Air Force Reserves and the United States Army Reserves. He was also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, Catchall Masonic Lodge #425, C.C. Johnson Consistory, South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association, and the Palmetto State Law Enforcement Officers Association; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are grateful for the life of Sergeant Carl Wesley Pringle and the years of service he selflessly gave to the citizens of Sumter County and express their heartfelt sorrow at his death. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Sergeant Carl Wesley Pringle of Sumter County, and extend to his family and many friends their deepest sympathy.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dianna Canty Pringle.
