A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MRS. JANIE LANGLEY FOR BEING NAMED SOUTH CAROLINA MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR, AND TO THANK HER FOR HER TIRELESS DEDICATION IN MAKING MACEDONIA MIDDLE SCHOOL A SOURCE OF PRIDE TO HER DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY.

Whereas, Mrs. Janie Langley, of Berkeley County School District's Macedonia Middle School, was named South Carolina Middle School Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators; and

Whereas, she will compete for national honors as Middle School Principal of the Year with the National Association of Secondary School Principals this spring; and

Whereas, Mrs. Langley is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor of science and of the University of Southern California with a master's degree in education and has a specialist's certificate in administration from the Citadel; and

Whereas, she has deep roots in Berkeley County, being a current resident of St. Stephen and having been raised in the area, having attended the former St. Stephen High School, and having taught at St. Stephen Elementary as her first post in the field of education; and

Whereas, her familiarity with the area helps boost her understanding and expectations of her students, which are high; and

Whereas, Mrs. Janie Langley, a veteran educator of thirty-eight years and principal for twenty, is an administrator much respected and admired by her community for her success in lifting Macedonia Middle School to higher achievement levels; and

Whereas, her work has garnered various honors, including Honor Roll of Administrators recipient, Berkeley County Tribute to Women and Industry TWIN recipient, and IDEA Fellows Program recipient; and

Whereas, along with serving her schools, Mrs. Langley has been active in the community, serving as a certified lay speaker for the United Methodist Church, president of the Federation of Women's Missionary Societies, and councilperson for the Town of St. Stephen; and

Whereas, this exemplary principal credits Macedonia Middle School's students, teachers, staff, parents, and community for the school's success. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Mrs. Janie Langley for being named South Carolina Middle School Principal of the Year, and thank her for her tireless dedication in making Macedonia Middle School a source of pride to her district and community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Janie Langley.
