VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE LORIS HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2007 CLASS AA DUAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.
Whereas, success in wrestling competition requires strength, agility, and self-discipline; and
Whereas, utilizing all these traits, the Lions of Loris High School defeated Walhalla High School 41-24 on Saturday, February 10, 2007, at Lugoff-Elgin High School, to capture the 2007 Class AA Dual State Championship title; and
Whereas, Head Coach Thomas Britt and his assistant coaches, Maurice Murphy, Don Kettner, and Thomas Gonzales, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their wrestling program into a championship team; and
Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent season for the Lions, who finished with a record of 36-7; and
Whereas, the Lions have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Loris High School wrestling team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2007 Class AA Dual State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Loris High School, Trevor Strawderman, and Head Coach Thomas Britt.
