Deliberations were opened with prayer by Rev. Charles E. Seastrunk, Jr., as follows:

Our thought for today is from Psalm 146:5: "Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob."
Let us pray. Mighty Lord, help us to face whatever problems come our way today. Help us to be ready to serve the people God sends our way. When the load of the days get heavy and we can't carry it any longer, send Your help. As the psalmist reminds us, our help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. Bless our Nation, President, State, Governor, Speaker, this Honorable Assembly, and all who labor in these Halls of Government. Protect our defenders of freedom at home and abroad as they protect us. In the name of our Lord. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.

At 10:15 a.m. the House in accordance with the ruling of the SPEAKER adjourned to meet at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, January 29.
