TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR DOROTHY "DOT" EVANS ELLIOTT, OF SUMTER COUNTY, AND TO EXPRESS GRATITUDE FOR HER FIFTY YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE AS ORGANIST AT PINEWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to learn that on Sunday, June 8, 2008, Dorothy "Dot" Evans Elliott will begin her golden year as organist at Pinewood Baptist Church; and
Whereas, Dot Elliott has been more than a faithful member of the church family at Pinewood Baptist Church for fifty years; and
Whereas, through those five decades, she has volunteered as a skilled musician and blessed her church family with special cantatas, music for vacation Bible schools, joyful odes for weddings, and the solace of familiar, inspired hymns for funerals. At the same time she has raised her family of three fine children with Dargan P. Elliott, Jr., her beloved husband; and
Whereas, Dot Elliott's involvement with her church has included ministry on several mission trips with other church members and a willingness to serve her Lord through her enthusiasm and love as she serves others; and
Whereas, she celebrates not only fifty years of music ministry at Pinewood Baptist Church but also fifty years of marriage, and her three children have blessed Dot and Dargan Elliott with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are grateful for the fifty years of ministry as an organist that Dorothy "Dot" Evans Elliott has given to Pinewood Baptist Church, filling the sanctuary with heavenly strains. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and honor Dorothy "Dot" Evans Elliott, of Sumter County, and express gratitude for her fifty years of faithful service as organist at Pinewood Baptist Church.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dorothy "Dot" Evans Elliott.
