To whom was referred a Bill (H. 3256) to amend Section 38-57-160, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to advertising gifts given by insurance agents to insureds and others, so as to increase, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

Has polled the Bill out majority favorable.

A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 38-57-160, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO ADVERTISING GIFTS GIVEN BY INSURANCE AGENTS TO INSUREDS AND OTHERS, SO AS TO INCREASE FROM FIVE TO TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS THE VALUE OF MERCHANDISE OR AN ARTICLE WHICH MAY BE GIVEN.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 38-57-160 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 38-57-160.    Sections 38-57-130, 38-57-140, and 38-57-150 do not prohibit a licensed agent from giving to insureds, prospective insureds, and to others, for the purpose of advertising, any an article of merchandise having a value of not more than five twenty-five dollars and having an advertisement for the insurer or agent printed on it. Nothing within this section precludes any a licensed agent from providing refreshments during a sales presentation which do not exceed ten dollars a person in cost."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
