RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING HAMMOND SCHOOL SENIOR CARTER SCOTT ON HIS OUTSTANDING UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL SEASON AND ON HIS COMMITMENT TO PLAY FOOTBALL FOR DARTMOUTH COLLEGE IN 2007.
Whereas, Hammond senior Carter Scott capped an outstanding undefeated championship football season by winning acceptance to Dartmouth College and committing to play football at this prestigious Ivy League school, beginning in the fall of 2007; and
Whereas, he is the first player in Hammond School's forty-year football history to commit to an Ivy League football program; and
Whereas, this middle linebacker owns the Hammond School record for career tackles, with more than four hundred to his credit, including over one hundred tackles in each of the past three seasons; and
Whereas, in addition to providing indispensable help in capturing the South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA State Championship title for the Hammond Skyhawks football team, which ended an undefeated season with a perfect 13-0 record, Carter Scott was also a SCISA Shrine Bowl selection for 2006; and
Whereas, practicing excellence off the field, as well as on, Carter serves as President of the Hammond Class of 2007 and of the school's chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a member of the National Honor Society by virtue of his top-notch grade-point average; and
Whereas, Carter Scott has brought great pride and recognition to his school and community, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives take great pleasure in recognizing such fine young people as Carter Scott. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Hammond School senior Carter Scott on his outstanding undefeated championship football season and on his commitment to play football for Dartmouth College in 2007.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Carter Scott.
