TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE CARVERS BAY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2006 CLASS A DIVISION I STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.

Whereas, the Bears of Carvers Bay High School defeated Chesterfield 11-3 on Friday, November 24, 2006, at Orangeburg's South Carolina State University Football Stadium, to capture the 2006 Class A Division I State Championship title; and

Whereas, Coach Nate Thompson and his assistant coaches, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their football program into a championship team; and

Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent season for the Bears, with twelve wins and only two losses; and

Whereas, no strangers to the taste of victory, this being their second state title in five years, these players and the coaches of Carvers Bay High School deserve tribute for their incredible season and championship win; and

Whereas, the Bears have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Carvers Bay High School football team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2006 Class A Division I State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.
