A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR ROBERT A. PEDDE, PRESIDENT OF THE WASHINGTON SAVANNAH RIVER COMPANY, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS NEW ASSIGNMENT AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF INTERNATIONAL GOVERNMENT NUCLEAR PROGRAMS FOR THE ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT BUSINESS UNIT, AND TO COMMEND THE OUTSTANDING VISION AND LEADERSHIP MR. PEDDE HAS EXHIBITED DURING HIS YEARS AT THE SAVANNAH RIVER SITE.

Whereas, Robert A. Pedde earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University and held a series of engineering and management positions with the Tennessee Valley Authority in Knoxville, as well as the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant in Spring City, Tennessee, where he was named Site Director and was responsible for both technical and administrative activities; and

Whereas, Robert Pedde joined Westinghouse Savannah River Company in 1989 as a project manager and has held subsequent titles of Project Manager and Program Manager of the Replacement Tritium Facility, Tritium Area Manager, Vice President and General Manager, Defense Programs, where he maintained responsibility for the SRS tritium program, before being appointed President in 2001; and

Whereas, Mr. Pedde served with distinction in the highest executive position at the Savannah River Site, assuring that all safety, security, and environmental regulations were strictly maintained, and he insured the safe operation of all the facilities, leading the site's community and government communications and its development of long-range strategic performance objectives that will help maintain the facility as an integral part of our nation's nuclear defense capabilities; and

Whereas, Bob Pedde has over thirty-four years of experience in government-owned enterprises and, in addition to his exceptionally demanding work schedule, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Energy Facilities Contractors Group, the United Way of the CSRA, the University of South Carolina Research Foundation, the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance, the South Carolina Department of Commerce Crescent Fund, and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the South Carolina State University Board of Visitors and the Board of Trustees for the Heritage Academy; and

Whereas, Mr. Pedde and his lovely wife, Linda, live in Martinez, Georgia, and are active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Augusta; and

Whereas, Bob Pedde has been named Executive Vice President of International Government Nuclear Programs for the Energy and Environment Business Unit, where he will help address market needs across the full nuclear life cycle internationally. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, honor Robert A. Pedde, President of the Washington Savannah River Company, on the occasion of his new assignment as Executive Vice President of International Government Nuclear Programs for the Energy and Environment Business Unit, and commend the outstanding vision and leadership Mr. Pedde has exhibited during his years at the Savannah River site.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Robert A. Pedde.
