TO CONGRATULATE ELIZABETH LYNN BRONDSEMA FOR CAPTURING THE 2007 SPELLBOUND! LOWCOUNTRY REGIONAL SPELLING BEE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND EARNING THE RIGHT TO COMPETE IN THE EIGHTIETH ANNUAL SCRIPPS NATIONAL SPELLING BEE IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

Whereas, having previously won her school and district competitions, twelve-year-old Elizabeth Lynn Brondsema, a sixth grader at St. George Middle School in Dorchester District 4, captured the 2007 SPELLBOUND! Lowcountry Regional Spelling Bee Championship title; and

Whereas, this straight-A student flawlessly spelled the final word of the evening, "amenity," to take first place at her regional competition, sponsored by The Post and Courier of Charleston; and

Whereas, competing in a field of champion spellers representing five public school districts, Lowcountry Catholic Schools, the South Carolina Independent School Association, and the Lowcountry Home and Private Schools, Elizabeth defeated forty-nine other finalists; and

Whereas, Elizabeth, the first student from her district to take top honors in this regional bee, will enjoy as her prize an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, where she will join two hundred sixty-four of the nation's best spellers in the eightieth annual national bee in May; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, in full confidence that Elizabeth Lynn Brondsema will distinguish herself admirably not only in spelling but also in her every undertaking, with great pleasure and pride extend to this remarkable young lady best wishes as she competes at the 2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Elizabeth Lynn Brondsema for capturing the 2007 SPELLBOUND! Lowcountry Regional Spelling Bee Championship title and earning the right to compete in the eightieth annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
