A HOUSE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING YORK COUNTY'S FORT MILL HIGH SCHOOL YELLOW JACKET SWIM TEAM ON ITS TOP NOTCH SHOWING IN THE 2007 AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SWIM MEET, WITH THE BOYS TAKING HOME THE STATE TITLE AND THE GIRLS WINNING THE 200 FREESTYLE RELAY IN RECORD TIME, AS WELL AS THE 400 FREESTYLE RELAY.

Whereas, York County's Fort Mill High School swim team took home team and individual top awards at the State AAAA Championship Swim Meet; and

Whereas, the boys' team won overall highest honors, capturing the 2007 State AAAA team crown; and

Whereas, the girls' team swam at a state record pace to take first place in the girls' 200 freestyle relay, and also won the 400 freestyle relay; and

Whereas, individual top times were recorded by Justin Ashcraft in the 200 and 500 freestyles, both for state records, and Kati Morris in the 100 and 200 freestyles; and

Whereas, head coach Melissa Halstensgard and assistant coach Lindsay Hawkins coached and encouraged these talented teens to give it their all, resulting in the myriad medals they took home to Fort Mill; and

Whereas, other championship team members include; Boys: Evan Ashcraft, Jordan Berry, Austin Boykin, Alex Carr, Jamie Dudley, Lucas Hawes, Dan Little, Daniel Little, Matt Lang, Kevin Pringle, and Brian Rockwell; and Girls: Holly Hirsh, Brittany Miller, and Sarah Bartlett. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate York County's Fort Mill High School Yellow Jacket swim team on its top notch showing in the 2007 AAAA state championship swim meet, with the boys taking home the state title and the girls winning the 200 freestyle relay in record time, as well as the 400 freestyle relay.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Melissa Halstensgard and principal Dee Christopher on behalf of the swim team.
