A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE ONE OF LEXINGTON COUNTY'S FINEST PUBLIC SERVANTS, DAVID F. SHEALY OF BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, FOR HIS SERVICE AS DIRECTOR OF BATESBURG-LEESVILLE RESCUE SQUAD WHICH HE HAS LED WITH DISTINCTION FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE DECADES AND TO THANK HIM ON BEHALF ON THE CITIZENS OF LEXINGTON COUNTY FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO HIS COMMUNITY, COUNTY AND STATE.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to note that David F. Shealy, Director of the Batesburg-Leesville Rescue Squad, has served the citizens of Batesburg-Leesville and Lexington County in this capacity with great distinction; and

Whereas, he has served as director of the rescue squad for approximately three decades and began his involvement with the Lexington County Emergency Medical Service in 1972, and became an emergency medical technician in 1978 and a paramedic in 1983; and

Whereas, he has been instrumental in coordinating the leadership and training of the town's volunteer rescue squad, supervised the construction of the squad's West Church Street headquarters and assisted in the acquisition of a new ambulance for the town; and

Whereas, a long-time employee of J. B. Martin, Mr. Shealy also has served in the Lion's Club, on the Lexington County School District Three School Board, and on the American Red Cross Board of Directors; and

Whereas, David Shealy has attended the First Baptist Church of Leesville since 1957 and has been a member of a widely known gospel quartet for more than three decades endearing him to all those who have had the pleasure of hearing him sing; and

Whereas, David and his lovely wife, Shirley, are the parents of Cathy Peake of Elgin and Beverly Taylor of Leesville, and they have four wonderful grandchildren; and

Whereas, he has received a number of awards and recognitions for his many community endeavors including receiving the 1998 Distinguished Citizen Award by the South Carolina Poultry Festival; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to publicly recognize this truly fine man for his service as Director of the Batesburg-Leesville Rescue Squad and express to him their thanks for what he has done to make Batesburg-Leesville and Lexington County a better place to live. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, honor and recognize one of Lexington County's finest public servants, David F. Shealy of Batesburg-Leesville, for his service as Director of the Batesburg-Leesville Rescue Squad which he has led with distinction for approximately three decades and thank him on behalf of the citizens of Lexington County for his contributions to his community, county, and state.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. David F. Shealy.
