A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND HONOR THE REVEREND VINCENT L. MITCHELL FOR HIS DEDICATED LEADERSHIP AND GLORIOUS SERVICE AS PASTOR OF ROCK HILL BAPTIST CHURCH NUMBER ONE IN GREENVILLE COUNTY, AND ON THE OCCASION OF HIS SECOND ANNIVERSARY AS ITS PASTOR.

Whereas, an humble man who seeks not to be seen and heard but to do the will of God, the Reverend Vincent L. Mitchell faithfully serves as pastor of Rock Hill Baptist Church Number One in Greenville County, and his second anniversary as pastor of that venerable church is worth noting; and

Whereas, Reverend Mitchell's commitment and dedication to his church over the years is to be revered and serves as an inspiration to both his congregation and fellow pastors; and

Whereas, adding to his joy in pastoral service, he and his beloved wife of twenty-three years, Patricia Mitchell, have raised a fine family of two children, Lamar and Kathy; and

Whereas, a graduate of Parker High School, Reverend Mitchell prepared for the ministry by earning degrees from the American Baptist Theological Seminary and Morris College School of Religion. On December 9, 1990, he became licensed to preach the gospel; and

Whereas, among other accomplishments during the sixteen years of his ministry, this inspiring pastor has served as a moderator of the Saint Vaughnville Baptist Association, pastor of Mount Cowell Baptist Church, associate pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, member of the Baptist Minister Fellowship, member of the Laurens County Minister Alliance, member of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, second vice moderator of the Enoree River Association, church trustee, and usher. In addition, he was named in Who's Who Among American Young People; and

Whereas, there is no greater commendation a congregation can render its pastor than to echo the Lord's "Well done, good and faithful servant," and the members of Rock Hill Baptist Church Number One are honoring Reverend Mitchell with a celebration of his anniversary as their shepherd on July 8, 2007. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate and honor the Reverend Vincent L. Mitchell for his dedicated leadership and glorious service as pastor of Rock Hill Baptist Church Number One in Greenville County, and on the occasion of his second anniversary as its pastor.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Reverend Vincent L. Mitchell.
