TO CONGRATULATE AND HONOR ANNA TEAL STRANGE OF KERSHAW COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM CENTRAL CAROLINA TECHNICAL COLLEGE, AND TO WISH HER THE BEST IN HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives have learned with regret that one of South Carolina's most delightful and capable educators, Mrs. Anna T. Strange, is retiring from Central Carolina Technical College after an outstanding thirty year career; and
Whereas, a native of Bishopville, Anna prepared for a career in education by earning a bachelor's degree from Winthrop College, later attaining a master of education degree from the University of South Carolina, where she engaged in additional studies over the years; and
Whereas, Mrs. Strange spent the early portion of her career shaping young minds at Alice Drive Junior High School, Ashwood Central High School, and Wilson Hall in Sumter County, and the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base schools in Horry County; and
Whereas, on May 26, 1977, she brought her wealth of teaching experiences to Central Carolina Technical College's predecessor, Sumter Area College, as a part-time instructor. Mrs. Strange eventually became a full-time faculty member, and her service to CCTC expanded to include responsibilities as a department head, chairperson of the self-study steering committee, accreditation officer responsible for compliance with Southern Association of College and Schools standards, library director, and dean of the general education and transitional studies division. She served as leader of the college's South Carolina Technical Association subcommittee, and numerous other subcommittees and task forces; and
Whereas, Mrs. Strange's career at Central Carolina Technical College culminated in her becoming the school's Director of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness. In this role, she provided invaluable assistance in ensuring the college's continued accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and in developing and implementing strategic plans; and
Whereas, after a venerable career in the field of education, Mrs. Strange is embarking on a richly deserved retirement, and looks forward to spending more time with her beloved family, which includes husband Richard C. Strange, son Richard C. Strange, Jr., daughter Regina Strange, and grandchildren Walker Gainey and Richard C. Strange, III; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank Anna Strange for her many contributions to the education of the people of South Carolina and the success of Central Carolina Technical College on the occasion of her retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate and honor Anna Teal Strange of Kershaw County on the occasion of her retirement from Central Carolina Technical College, and wish her the best in her future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Anna Teal Strange.
