A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND HONOR YVONNE CORN BOLDING FOR HER THIRTY-FOUR YEARS OF INVALUABLE SERVICE TO THE STUDENTS AT AMBLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN PICKENS, UPON HER RETIREMENT FROM TEACHING AND TO WISH HER SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, after her graduation from Clemson University in 1974, Yvonne Corn Bolding used her training in early childhood development as a teacher with emotionally handicapped students in the Pickens County School District; and

Whereas, she came to love Ambler Elementary School as she worked with students in that school, and she has faithfully taught the three "r's" to countless elementary students there for thirty-two years; and

Whereas, within two years of joining the Ambler faculty, Yvonne Bolding had earned a master's degree in education; and

Whereas, a member of Pickens First Baptist Church, she benefits the larger community as she sings in the choir, plays the handbells, and teaches the preschool choir there; and

Whereas, not only has she impacted the lives of hundreds of children in this community, but she also has taught many of the children of her former students; and

Whereas, to many of the students who have now grown to adulthood, Yvonne Bolding remains an icon of the good and true which Ambler Elementary School instilled in them; and

Whereas, in her well-deserved retirement, she desires to continue to enjoy the students at Ambler through volunteering and substituting, to spend more time with her daughters, and to enjoy swinging in her hammock while reading for pleasure; and

Whereas, Yvonne Corn Bolding and her colleagues, Cathay Cannon Rodgers and Deborah Moorer Wilson, who are all retiring, have taught young minds beginning their educational pilgrimages at Ambler Elementary School in Pickens for a remarkable total of one hundred years, literally a centennial of service. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate and honor Yvonne Corn Bolding for her thirty-four years of invaluable service to the students at Ambler Elementary School in Pickens upon her retirement from teaching and wish her success and happiness in all her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Yvonne Corn Bolding.
