A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND PAY TRIBUTE TO DEBORAH MOORER WILSON FOR THIRTY-THREE YEARS AS AN EDUCATOR AND FOR THIRTY YEARS OF DEVOTION TO THE KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS AT AMBLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, IN PICKENS, ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM TEACHING AND TO EXPRESS WISHES FOR MANY YEARS OF HEALTH AND HAPPINESS IN THE FUTURE.

Whereas, Deborah Moorer Wilson graduated from Erskine College in 1975 and began working with Pickens County Child Development and was named the director in 1978; and

Whereas, she has now taught five-year-old kindergarten for thirty consecutive years at Ambler Elementary School and has imparted crucial learning skills to hundreds of children embarking on the journey for education; and

Whereas, a vital part of the community, Deborah Wilson worships as a member at Pickens Baptist Church; and

Whereas, many of the students she has taught have sent their own children to Ambler Elementary School, and Deborah Wilson has been their first teacher, as well; and

Whereas, so many students will remember Deborah Wilson with admiration and affection for years to come and will consider her part of all the benefits they gleaned from their early education at Ambler Elementary School; and

Whereas, after thirty-three years, Deborah Wilson has earned a leisurely retirement, yet she plans to continue at Ambler as a volunteer and to assist her husband with his carpentry work; she does, however, plan to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren; and

Whereas, Deborah Moorer Wilson and her colleagues, Yvonne Corn Bolding and Cathay Cannon Rodgers, who are all retiring, have taught young minds beginning their educational pilgrimages at Ambler Elementary School in Pickens for a remarkable total of one hundred years, truly a centennial of service. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, acknowledge and pay tribute to Deborah Moorer Wilson for thirty-three years as an educator and for thirty years of devotion to the kindergarten students at Ambler Elementary School on the occasion of her retirement from teaching and express wishes for many years of health and happiness in the future.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Deborah Moorer Wilson.
