A JOINT RESOLUTION

PROVIDING FOR THE TRANSFER OF A SURPLUS OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE SHOP IN NEWBERRY TO THE COUNTY OF NEWBERRY.

Whereas, the State Military Department has declared that its operations and maintenance shop in Newberry is surplus to the department's needs and that deferred maintenance is an ongoing burden upon the department; and

Whereas, the County of Newberry is currently using and occupying the facility for public safety activities; and

Whereas, the County of Newberry originally transferred to the State the land for the use of the State Military Department. Now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Notwithstanding any other provision of law and without the need for additional approval by any governmental official or agency, the Division of General Services of the State Budget and Control Board is directed to transfer and convey ownership of the Newberry operations and maintenance shop, located at 520 Wilson Road in Newberry, to the County of Newberry. The transfer is to include the approximately three acre parcel of land where the shop is located and identified as parcel B on the August 29, 1983, plat of Claude E. Johnson. This transfer is to be without the payment of any consideration. Upon execution of the deed by the Division of General Services of the State Budget and Control Board the deed is to be recorded in Newberry County.

SECTION    2.    This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
