A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, AND ADMINISTRATION OF WOODMONT HIGH SCHOOL, IN GREENVILLE COUNTY, ON BEING NAMED A 2008 RED CARPET SCHOOL.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives note with pleasure that Greenville County's Woodmont High School has been named a 2008 Red Carpet School; and

Whereas, sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Education, this prestigious award is presented annually to state schools that demonstrate exceptionally family-friendly environments; and

Whereas, winning schools receive red carpets emblazoned with the state seal to display in their lobbies; and

Whereas, in choosing winners, independent judges consider a school's written application and then screen finalist schools through telephone calls and site visits. Judges do not identify themselves during telephone calls or site visits, and site visits are not announced in advance; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is proud to affirm Woodmont High School's place as an outstandingly family-friendly educational institution, and the members join Woodmont's many friends in congratulating the school on this, its latest achievement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the students, faculty, staff, and administration of Woodmont High School, in Greenville County, on being named a 2008 Red Carpet School.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Principal Leroy Hamilton, of Woodmont High School.
